The letter, dated July 22, 1879, is written on stationery of the "Columbus Agency of Southwestern Railroad Company of Georgia," is from her brother-in-law, H. M. Howard of Columbus, Georgia. The letter discusses family matters including the death of Mr. Howard's son. Also included in the collection are two pages (copies) of handwritten genealogical notes on Anne Pierce Howard.
